Environmental Site Assessments:
Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
The Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (Phase II ESA) aims to take a closer look at recognized environmental conditions detected during the Phase I ESA process or resolve any data gaps identified during the Phase I ESA which may potentially reveal recognized environmental conditions. The scope of a Phase II ESA can vary significantly from project to project and may include any or all of the following:
- Soil sampling and laboratory analysis for chemicals of potential concern.
- Sampling of vapor trapped between soil particles and analysis for chemicals of potential concern (soil gas sampling).
- Ground water sampling and analysis for chemicals of potential concern, including grab samples from existing wells, drilling and sampling temporary bore holes to ground water, and/or installation and sampling of monitoring wells. Monitoring wells may be abandoned after sampling or may continue to be monitored for a period of months to years.
- Geophysical surveys to identify potential buried debris without excavation.
- Excavation of target areas to identify potential buried debris.
